Be-Kin for Co-Designing Early Childhood Early Intervention (ECEI)

This project was conducted in partnership with Brotherhood of St. Lawrence. Along with families with young children with a developmental delay or disability, we co-created tools that can facilitate positive experiences in their navigating the National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS) system. Be-Kin is one outcome designed to be used easily and reflexively by different people – alone or others – at different points of their NDIS journeys.

Storycards for Creative Engagement with Tenants Living in Social Housing
This project was commissioned by Tenant Queensland to gain preliminary insight into how social housing residents in Queensland perceive “community” within and beyond their living environments, and; what community engagement or participation may mean to them. We used creative, mixed-methods of research and engagement, and designed Storycards with a hope that they could aid people in reflecting on their own experience, needs, and desires around their communities and living environments.

Creative Kit for Dignity First: Re-thinking Homelessness & Co-creating Tomorrow
This project was conducted in collaboration with Marist180, Orange Sky Laundry, 139 Club, Common Ground, Wesley Mission, and River City Labs. The overall project was funded by the Dignity First Fund, which supported Australia’s first Homelessness Hackathon in 2017.

The main aim of our work was to examine how support was perceived and experienced by people experiencing homelessness in and around Brisbane, Queensland, and sought new ways to improve support services based on their needs and desires. The project employed creative and design research methods, including sketching, unstructured interviews, and creative kits, as shown in this file.

Creative Kit for Co-designing the Settlement Experience with Recently Settled Immigrants
In partnership with MDA, a leading settlement organisation providing services to refugees and migrants in Queensland, Australia, this project explored how care and support are perceived and experienced by newly settled refugee and migrant young people during their first 3-6 months of settling into Australia. We used co-creative methods to seek new ways to improve settlement services based on the needs and desires of the young people themselves. The creative kit shown in this file invited participants to reflect on their time before, during and future of living in Australia across a range of creative and written tasks. Two subsequent co-design workshops were held (not presented here).
